HI to all parents of new and old pupils of Raigmore Primary School,
This is just a note to let you know about the friends of raigmore and what we do.
We are just a group of parents who meet about once a month at the school and talk about fund raising and other points that people want to bring up about other school matters. The meetings are very informal so don`t be scared to come along and see what we do.
So far some of the things we have done for the school are the purchase of white boards for the remainder of classes that didn`t have them, subsidised the singing and drama groups, bought a gazebo and a tea urn for when we run our summer fete.
Things we are planning to do this term are to help to fund the football team, again subsidise the singing and dancing classes and to help purchase extra library books, plus any other things that pop up during our meetings.
Our next meeting is on 17th sept at 2pm at the school so please come along and show your support.
Cheers for now David.
Hi all!
I am writing a short note to let you all know that we made a profit of £1700.00 at the summer fete, which I am sure you will all agree is a great amount to make for the kids. A great deal of effort was put in by a lot of people but I would like to especially thank Shelia, Maurice, Kerry, Caroline, Angus and his mum, Kenny, Kayden, Connor, Denise, Philip, Mark, Thommi, Rebecca, Susan and all the staff that helped and all the people that both baked and donated things. If I have forgotten anybody I apologise and thank you. At the moment I think all that a lot of the money raised will be used to continue subsidising drama and singing lessons also for the new term we hope to buy football strips and goal posts and footballs. All this will be sorted out at our next meeting on 27th August at 2pm. All are welcome. I will write on the blog soon to tell you more about the friends.
Thanks for now, David
NEWS AND DATES
The council meets up 2 or 3 times a term, and aims to raise funds for clubs or activities that the children specifically ask for. We are a small team of 8 – 10 that work independently but alongside the school.
In the last year and a half we have managed to raise funds for classroom whiteboards and are currently sponsoring a new drama and singing club, taken by two independent coaches who also work for Stagecoach.
This years’ Raigmore’s Got Talent surpassed the previous, and seems to be a fixed event. The children seem to thrive on the chance to perform, hence the Stagecoach club. Our other big event is the School Fete which was held on Saturday 6th June and was a huge success.
If anyone is interested in coming to any meetings, or have suggestion they would like to make, ideas for events or things to spend money on, notice of meetings will be posted on this Blog and through the school. We are obviously looking for new faces to join, whether just for helping at the events or permanently.
